Living here
Aranya is a gated complex of 68 flats on Calle Archidona, in the Las Joyas area beside La Resina Golf, on the stretch of coast between Estepona and Marbella that agents call the New Golden Mile. Ads list it under Selwo, and the street map puts it in Estepona's Resinera-Voladilla district, so you will see both names. The land registry (Catastro) dates the building to 2024, which makes it one of the newer complexes in the area.
Daily life is quiet and car-based. There are no shops inside the complex. The nearest pharmacy, Farmacia Cespedosa in Parque Antena, is about 22 minutes on foot. The coastal path and the beach bar at Sonora Beach are about 1.8 km away, a walk of around 25 minutes that crosses the A-7. Holiday ads for flats here say the beach is 1 km away, so expect different figures depending on where people measure from.
Ads for flats in Aranya describe the shared facilities as a large pool in landscaped gardens, a gym with a treadmill, benches and free weights, a coworking room with fast wifi, a children's play area and an underground garage. Entry is through a video intercom.
The homes
Catastro records Aranya as one plot with 68 homes in three blocks, each with a ground floor and three upper floors. Sale ads describe one-, two- and three-bedroom flats with large terraces, and penthouses on the top floor. The ads we checked do not name the developer, and we found no mention of later phases.
The flat we saw advertised for rent in October 2026 gives a fair idea of the layout. One long open-plan room holds the kitchen along the back wall, the dining table in the middle and the sofa by sliding glass doors. The doors open onto a deep covered terrace with frosted screens between neighbouring terraces, looking over lawns, trees and the low houses around the golf course.
Long-term rents
The asking rents we have seen in October 2026 for Aranya: €2,300 a month for a furnished two-bedroom, two-bathroom flat on the second floor with a covered terrace, given as 108 m² in the ad. That is a single home, so read it as a guide, not a market average. The ad asked for two months' deposit, allowed up to four people and no pets, and put electricity, water and gas on top of the rent.
Good to know before you rent
- Holiday lets inside. Some flats are let by the night to holiday guests, with their own booking websites and lower prices for stays of 30 nights or more. A family on a long lease may have holiday guests on the same landing, most of all in summer.
- Photos and plans. Rental ads here often show the living room and terrace but not the bedrooms or bathrooms. Ask for a floor plan or a video before you travel to view.
- Parking and storage. Check that a garage space is part of the lease and named in the contract, and ask whether the flat comes with a storage room.
- Coworking room. If you work from home, ask whether tenants can use the coworking room on the same terms as owners and whether it needs booking.
- People and pets. Some owners limit the number of people in the flat and say no to pets. Raise it before the viewing, not after.
- Building sites nearby. New complexes are still going up around Selwo. Ask which plots near the block are due to be built on, and when.
- Who pays what. Ask whether the rent includes community fees, and how water, electricity, gas and internet are paid.
Getting around
You will need a car. Typical drive times from the complex:
- Farmacia Cespedosa: about 5 minutes
- Mercadona and Lidl at the Cancelada exit of the A-7: about 10 minutes
- Hospiten Estepona, a private hospital with 24-hour adult and children's emergencies: about 6 minutes
- Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella, the public hospital for births and A&E: about 29 minutes
- Atlas American School: about 6 minutes. Mayfair International Academy: about 12. The International School Estepona: about 14
- Beach and coastal path at Sonora Beach: about 6 minutes
- Estepona old town: about 16 minutes. Puerto Banús: about 18. Marbella old town: about 26. Málaga airport: about 70
At peak times the Cancelada roundabout, the main way to the big supermarkets and towards Marbella, can queue back to the A-7. Residents filed a complaint about it with the town hall in September 2026.
Who it suits
Aranya suits a couple or a small family who want a recent flat with a gym and a coworking room downstairs, in a quiet spot next to a golf course. It works well for people who work from home, and for families with children at the Atlas American School, about 6 minutes away by car. It suits less well anyone who wants to walk to shops, cafés or the beach, or who wants a building with no holiday guests.
