Living here
Paraíso Pueblo sits on Calle Algarrobo in El Paraíso, a residential area on the hills between Estepona and San Pedro de Alcántara, on the stretch of coast that agents call the New Golden Mile. Some people look for it under Estepona, but the land registry (Catastro) and the street map both place it in the municipality of Benahavís. That is the town hall where you register on the padrón.
The complex is laid out as a white Andalusian village: low blocks of two floors set along paths and gardens, on a gated site of about 4.5 hectares. Sale material promises views of the sea and the golf courses below, and lists more than 16,000 m² of shared areas: a clubhouse with a restaurant, a bar and a small shop, a heated indoor pool, a gym, a spa, children's play areas and 24-hour security with a concierge. Sources give anything from four to seven outdoor pools, so ask the managing agent for the current list.
Outside the gates there is little on foot. El Paraíso Golf Club is about 1 km to the south. The nearest supermarkets, Mercadona with a Lidl and a Supeco close by at Bel Air, are about 2.5 km away on foot, a walk of around 35 minutes and uphill on the way back. In practice you will drive most days.
The homes and how the complex was built
The homes are two- and three-bedroom flats with two bathrooms, on the ground or first floor. Ground floors open onto gardens or terraces and first floors have terraces. Sale ads give about 101 to 112 m² built for a typical flat, and every flat we checked in the land registry comes with a garage space and a storage room.
Paraíso Pueblo was built in two stages, years apart. Catastro gives two build dates:
- Older blocks: 96 homes, dated 2007.
- Newer blocks: 110 homes, dated 2021.
- Total: 206 homes.
The Spanish developer Azmer later relaunched it as a new development, with the first homes due in 2020. A 2022 financing report said funds managed by the US investor Strategic Value Partners had paid for it to be finished, and that sales were well advanced.
People searching for "Paraíso Pueblo phase 2" may find older sale material that splits the complex into two or four phases, with the first due in 2020 and the last in 2021. All 206 homes are now built. Ask which block your flat is in and when it was finished.
Long-term rents
The asking rents we have seen in October 2026 for Paraíso Pueblo: €2,600 a month for a furnished three-bedroom flat of 111 m². That is a single home, so read it as a guide, not a market average. We have seen few long-term ads for this complex, so when a flat fits your brief, view it quickly.
Good to know before you rent
- Holiday lets inside. Several flats are offered by the night on holiday-rental sites, which advertise the pools, the gym and the restaurant. A family on a long lease may have holiday guests next door, most of all in summer.
- Clubhouse and spa. Ask which facilities open all year, the hours of the restaurant and the shop, and whether tenants can use the gym, spa and indoor pool on the same terms as owners or pay extra.
- Older or newer block. Ask when the block was finished and whether the flat has had any repairs, and check for damp in winter as you would in any flat.
- Building site nearby. OpenStreetMap marks a building site just south of the complex, near El Palacete, added in September 2026. We could not confirm what is being built there. Ask about noise and lorries, and which flats face it.
- Summer fire risk. The Benahavís wildfire of 13 September 2026 started near the Ermita del Rosario, about 3 km north of the complex, and burned more than 300 hectares before it was stabilised on 14 September. On 9 July 2026 another fire led to precautionary evacuations at Los Flamingos, a few kilometres west. Reports did not name El Paraíso, but hillside estates here carry a summer fire risk. Ask the managing agent about the community's fire plan.
- Parking and storage. Check that the garage space and the storage room are part of the lease and named in the contract.
- Who pays what. Ask whether the rent includes community fees, and how water, electricity and internet are paid.
Getting around
You will need a car. Typical drive times from the complex:
- Mercadona and Farmacia Bel Air, by the coast road below El Paraíso: about 6 minutes. Mercadona Atalaya: about 8
- Hospiten Estepona, a private hospital with 24-hour adult and children's emergencies: about 11 minutes
- Hospital Costa del Sol in Marbella, the public hospital for births and A&E: about 26 minutes
- Colegio Atalaya: about 7 minutes. The International School Estepona: about 10. Laude San Pedro International College: about 11. Aloha College: about 17
- Playa del Saladillo: about 9 minutes. Playa de San Pedro: about 12
- Benahavís town hall: about 14 minutes, and the village square about 15
- Puerto Banús: about 15 minutes. Estepona old town: about 22. Marbella old town: about 24. Málaga airport: about 66
Who it suits
Paraíso Pueblo suits families and couples who want a gated, village-style complex with pools, a gym, a spa and a clubhouse restaurant inside the gates, and who are happy to drive to shops, schools and the beach. It works well for families with children at Colegio Atalaya, The International School Estepona or Laude San Pedro, all within about 11 minutes. It suits less well anyone who wants to walk to shops and cafés, or who wants a building with no holiday guests.
