Where to live in Estepona
Old town and centre
White streets, flower pots and the promenade a few minutes away. Mostly flats, close to shops, schools and the market. Parking is tight.
Cancelada and Selwo
East of town by the coast road. Newer complexes with pools and gardens, popular with families.
El Paraíso, Bel Air and Benavista
Between Estepona and San Pedro, often called the New Golden Mile. Golf, gated complexes and townhouses. A car helps.
Estepona hills
Newer developments above the town with sea views and quiet streets. You will drive to the beach and the shops.
Renting long term in Estepona
What counts as a long-term rental in Spain?
A home lease (vivienda habitual) for 12 months or more, where you live and can register as a resident. A seasonal contract (temporada) is a different thing and is only for genuinely temporary stays.
How much do I pay when I sign?
The first month of rent, a deposit of one month (the fianza) and at most two months of extra guarantee. That is never more than 4 months in total.
Do I pay an agency fee?
No. On a home lease the owner pays the agency's fees, as Spanish rental law sets out.
Furnished or unfurnished?
Both. Many long-term homes on the coast come furnished. Tell us what you prefer and we only send homes that match.
