Long Term Spain

Long term rentals in Estepona old town

Estepona's old town sits just behind La Rada beach, a maze of white pedestrian streets full of flower pots around Plaza de las Flores. It suits people who want to live on foot, with the market, shops, schools and the seafront promenade close by. Homes are mostly older town houses and flats in small buildings, with newer blocks around the centre. The marina is a walk along the seafront, and Marbella is about 30 minutes by car.

Around Old town

Whitewashed pedestrian streets lined with flower pots, small squares and older town houses and flats, a few minutes' walk from La Rada beach. Daily life works on foot here: the market, a supermarket, a primary school, pharmacies and the town hall are all close. Parking is scarce in the old streets, so check whether a home comes with a space.

What changed nearby in 2026

  1. Storm tank being built at Avenida San Lorenzo and Calle Real

The council is building an 825 m³ underground storm tank where Avenida San Lorenzo meets Calle Real, the low point of the centre, to stop flooding in heavy rain. The €950,000 works were 40% done; civil works should end around mid-November and pumps go in during December.

  2. Boulevard and €1-a-day car park taking shape

Work continues on the new boulevard over Avenidas San Lorenzo, Juan Carlos I and España. Under it, a car park for more than 300 cars will join the council network at €1 a day. Its roof was due for completion in September 2026; no opening date was given.

  3. Almost €900,000 for beach facilities

Two contracts will add six lifeguard posts and nine toilet modules with foot showers and accessible areas at La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo, Arroyo Vaquero and the Paseo Marítimo. Wooden boardwalks will be replaced by 1,250 m of concrete walkways. No dates were given.

  4. Town bus network to be retendered

The council is drafting a new 10-year town bus contract with a renewed fleet. The draft plans three circular lines running every day of the year: Centre, West (via the Hospital de Estepona) and East. No tender dates have been set.

  5. Sports complex with an indoor pool on Avenida Puerta del Mar

The council signed the contract for a complex with a heated indoor pool, 17 padel courts, 2 tennis courts and parking for 80 cars, between Calle Países Bajos, Calle Francia and Avenida Puerta del Mar. Residents on the padrón get 20% off. Works are expected to start in early 2027.
